The
B1225
Dervy’s Favourite Haunt

This document illustrates some of
the reasons why I enjoy driving on the B1225 so much!
This particular stretch of road is
26·0 miles long. Regrettably, Kermit’s
current record time is twenty four minutes.
The early strait, just after the airport.

Easy
right, this corner can be rather nasty.

A beautiful shot of the road,
showing the lovely series of bends.

One of the tighter corners - SLOW
means it. Taken at 65 in the Mondeo TD
was “exciting” but it’s no bother in the Ka.

Another of the tighter bends, but
this one tightens up mid way around.
Take it wide and deep: don’t cut the corner, else you can de-stabalise
the car half way around.

This shot was taken by Charlie at
some speed! This S-bend is a good test
of how well the car changes direction.
A gentle right hander leads into a tighter left hander. Be careful of this in the winter, because
the left hander can get quite slippery, especially if you’ve carried lots of
speed through the first bend.
A blind summit, and another corner that
starts of fairly slack, then tightens.
Again, take it deep, don’t cut the corner.

Just after the above, there is a
spot that many people consider to be an ideal overtaking area. Not really thanks to the hazard. Best to wait a little bit.

A good shot of the road about a
half mile before the second junction.
The hidden dip is known as “ton hill” to some.
