Dalby Forest Meet

A

lthough I’d planned this meet with many weeks to go, I still thought it prudent to provide a plan for bad weather.  After all, with the United Kingdom’s typical summer, one never knows what will happen!

Saturday arrived, and I was seen out at Kermit at just seven o’clock changing his standard Ford 14” alloys for his XR2i rims.

And it was raining.  On balance, we elected to meet at the wet weather point, the McArthur Glen shopping centre, just off York’s bypass.

After we’d all met up, we decided to give Dalby Forest a try.  Unfortunately, we’d only been on the road for ten minutes when we encountered our first problem: traffic.  Specifically, the problem of everybody trying to merge on the Scarborough side of the A64.

Then it started to rain.  Heavily.

This shot shows the convoy behind Kermit, in heavy rain – honest!

Heavy rain - so much that we gave Dalby Forest a miss, finding some comfort in a pub just a short distance from the forest.

Note how everybody is ignoring the camera and is refusing to look my way!

In the end and rather than chance the weather, we headed off to Scarborough for some tea and donuts (splendid job) before breaking off for home.
