Silverstone - Monday June 3, 2002
This wasn’t really a
proper meet, but four Ka Klub members trotted down to Silverstone to watch the
eight British Touring Car Championship race, plus numerous others, including Formula
Ford, the British GT Cars, Formula 3, and the World Sports Car Championship.
The forecast was for sunny but showers, with some
wind. It was almost
accurate. We did have some sun, we did
endure some heavy rain, but there was a lot of wind and, consequently, it was
cold. Way too cold for shorts and a
t-shirt. Guess what I was wearing?
One good thing was that it only rained for the BTCC
races, which made them much more interesting!
There is a certain buzz about seeing half a dozen touring cars hammering
along the straight, all braking, and whipping through a corner. And the howling of this Ferrari’s
V12 will always be etched
in my mind.
Although I had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed
it (it was worth getting up at 05:00 and not getting back until 21:30),
sadly not many photographs worked, because of the big fence between you and the
racing track, and our lack of a big zoom lens.

Saturday, 20 July 2002
This one is worthy of its own feature, so click on
the picture below.
Ford Fair 2002 – Sunday, 4
August 2002
A grand day out, to Silverstone, also gets its’ own
feature.
Click on the picture of the Klub Stand to the right
for more information.
Interford – Sunday, 11 August, 2002

The weather wasn’t as as hot as the Ford Fair
event, but a bosh one, nevertheless!

Ka ‘vs’ MR2: The Yorkshire Moors Meet – Saturday, 17
August 2002
With the promise of a hot day in the Dales, DervMan
and a mate rushed to the hills before dawn, for some site-seeing.
We got our cars rather dirty . . . and had some
entertaining episodes, especially with a slippery dusty road surface and wet
grassy verges /cough/.
Click on the filthy Ka for more!
Trax 2002 – Sunday, 8 September 2002
Another trek down to Silverstone, this time for
Trax 2002 and the second anniversary of the Ka Klub!
Click on the image for more information.
Ka Klub Chester Meet – Sunday, 6 October 2002
A drive
down to Chester, and Charlie’s birthday, led to an entertaining day out which
included Dervy reaching North Wales!
Other hightlights include munching a big chocolate
cake, dropping by a museum to look at some old cars, and a quick blast through
some Welsh roads (with Charlie at the helm, heh).
Click on the decorated Ka for more details! But note that Kermit wasn’t wearing his
brows when this photograph was taken!
Ford Enthusiasts Show, Castle Donington - Sunday, 3
November 2002
It wasn’t exactly a warm morning!
The Ka Klub trekked down to Castle Donington for
the Ford Enthusiasts Show. We had about
twelve Kas there, with four on show, including the 1·6 Cosworth powered one.
Click on the picture for more details (and
apologies to Rachy Poo for my /cough/ “number plate revisions” to Millie
Ka!).
Ka Klub Yorkshire Meet - Sunday, 10 November 2002
It was raining when we drove across to our meeting
point close to Skipton.
Rain?
It was chucking it down! Not the sort of rain that a photo-treasure hunt is ideal for.
However, lucky for us, the rain ceased . . .

Ka Klub Carlisle Christmas Meet – Saturday and Sunday the 28 / 29
December, 2002
Also known as the “Brass Monkeys” Meet, because it
gets cold in Carlisle, or so we’re told.
A trek up to Carlisle, a Christmas Meal with some of the gang, a drive
around Carlisle, including a nice, entertaining little hill descent /cough/
and plenty of rain!
What more could you want? Click on the picture . . .
Ka ‘vs’ Zafira
One’s a well designed vehicle, with good handling
and ride, a respectable turn of speed, and able to carry lots of kiddies. The other is a Vauxhall “multi purpose
vehicle.”
Just a little jaunt to a McDonalds, in convoy . . .
with a few detours . . . click on the picture!
Ka Klub East Midlands Meet – 26 January, 2003
Despite a threatening cloud, it didn’t rain during
this venture to the Derbyshire Dales. A
drive along some tortuous roads, a quiz, and a pub stop – a recipe for a most
splendid day!
Click on the picture of Skin Demon’s car for more information!
Southend-on-Sea Joint
Meet – 23 March, 2003
Charlie and I braved the March frost to go kamping, and we drove all the way to Southend-on-Sea,
Essex, to meet up with the Focus club.
Click on the assembled cars at the Sea Front, or here, for more information.
Crail Raceway – 30 March,
2003
Have you ever wanted to take a 1·3 litre Ka onto a
drag strip? I did . . .
And it was great fun!
Ford Enthusiasts Show,
Castle Donington - Sunday, 6 April 2003
The Ford Enthusiasts Show, Castle Donington, April
2003, Ka style!
We were very well represented at this event with
around 40 Kas in the car park! A
splendid result for the Klub.
Although as a Klub, we didn’t win anything, the
owner of this magnificent Pacific Green Ka did win an award.
Dervy’s North West Meet, Sunday, 13 April 2003
Sunny weather, six Kas, some hills, an inland lake
and a pub. Could you ask for any
more? Despite the rumours, we didn’t
get lost, although I may concede that we spent quite a bit more time in
Yorkshire than many had been led to believe /cough/ but this is possible
because Yorkshire is a much friendlier place than Lancashire /cough/.
The 2001 LuxuryKa ‘vs’ 2003 Luxury Ka, Saturday 10 May,
2003
It started off as a splendid day, with little wind
and lots of sun, but sadly it decended into a windy, wet day – hardly ideal for
some gooning in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
Not to mention that the 2003 Ka in question was
almost 24 hours old! It’s a bit more
run in now!
Fiesta In The Park,
Sunday 18 May, 2003
Take a Kamping trip, an
orange sunstrip, a mini-FM transmitter and a whole bunch of Kas. What have you got? Fiesta In The Park, Ka Style!
Alton Towers, Saturday 24 May, 2003
Despite a relatively low turn out, and some heavy rain
showers in the morning, seven of us went to Alton Towers to Klub it.
We had a great time, and the afternoon sun
certainly made the water rides great fun!
Read all about it here,
or click on the picture of Buzz.
The Summer Solstice, Stonehenge,
21 June, 2003
This one didn’t exactly go to plan!
Whilst we did see the sun rise at quarter to five
in the morning, and whilst we were approximately 230 miles from York, we
weren’t at Stonehenge but in Wales.
Oops. See here for details or click on the photograph.
JOGLE 2003
You don’t know about JOGLE yet?
The charity road trip from John O’Groats to Lands
End, where seven of us took four Kas, three tends, and two things to do – to
raise money for the NSPCC and promote the Ka Klub?
Click on the picture or here
for details.
Interford 2003
As I left with Kermit last time, I looked over my
shoulder at Interford 2002, and said (with a
Terminator edge to my voice), “I’ll be back.”
And we were.
During JOGLE.
See here for details.
Ford Fair 2003
We’d seemingly only just gotten back from Interford 2003 and JOGLE,
when it was time to depart for the Ford Fair 2003,
like last year at Silverstone.
A meet in York, to watch Terminator 3.
Sean’s A57 Snake Pass Meet
Some driving, some scenery, some hill climbs, and a
Nova too – see here for details.
This cruise was at Ellesmere Port (oddly enough),
in aid of a terminally ill young lad.
Click on the picture of Kermit zooming past for
more details!
The Klub’s third birthday, and one of the biggest
in the Klub’s Kalendar, held at Silverstone.
It was also another long day, but given the
hours I’d put into making Kermit shine (and how he didn’t really shine next
to proper shiny Kas!), we weren’t going to not go!
picture for more details.
Gran Turismo Meet
Who’s the Ka Klub Gran Turismo Khampion?
We don’t know, but he had a laugh at the Gran Turismo Meet, anyway!
Anybody ever raced using a dance mat?
Ka Klub Christmas Party 2004
This one’s a regular of the Ka Klub calendar, many
of us trek to Carlisle for the “Brass Monkeys” meet. And, yes, we had some snow, and yes, we had a great party!
Click on the picture to visit my Christmas Meet
2004 page!
Bluewater January 2004
Another trip down to the Bluewater Shopping
Centre! Wibble!
Click on the picture to read more about it.
Margam Park, June 2004
A bit of a trek to this one, but worth it of
course.
The Margam Park show is a regular for the Klub, but
this was the first time I’d managed to make it.
Click on the picture to see more
about it.
