Ford Enthusiasts Show

Castle Donington - Sunday, 6 April 2003

T

he April Ford Enthusiasts Show, at Castle Donington, is one of the best attended of the Kalender.  It’s a great opportunity to pick up spare parts, accessories, and of course to check out the latest mods on both the Ka Klub members, and of course on other cars, too.

Whilst we didn’t win any prizes as a Klub, one of our members Kas’ won a “Pride of Ownership” prize for a well presented attendee car, which is always a good thing.

This first shot shows two of our turbocharged Kas, Nodjee and P2KKA, lined up outside the Exhibition Hall.

This second shot shows the serious cooling gear in Nodjee’s Ka!

And I thought that Kermit’s underbonnet temperatures got high!

We probably had the best attended club there, with approximately forty Kas turning up during various parts of the day.

Unfortunately, the venue is not a good one for photography and very few of my pictures came out a respectable quality.  Charlie’s did, although sadly, some ginger Dervy git was in most of them, larking around.

The Klub Stand was based around the theme of “You Can Have Any Colour, As Long As It’s Black,” Henry Ford’s famous statement about the Model T.

Some of the highlights included the Ka Klub Kake, donated by Penny, which was scrumptious and provided enough sustenance for our students to survive for another week or so!

And we also did some filming, for a project not entirely known to me!  Here’s Bob being interviewed.

Now one of the main reasons to go to a Meet like this is because of the Trade Stands – you can pick up a real bargain, if you’re careful.  Of the bits and pieces bought, well when the Ka was released back in late 1996, I recall a Ford dealership showing me a presentation on the Ka, and they had this natty folder containing all sorts of useful nerdy information, a CD, and some slides.  Well . . . I found one for eight quid.  I snapped it up, and some of the pictures are now on this site.

I also got my hands on a big poster of a Belladonna Ka, which is going up in our study in due course.  I’ll detail this in due course! J

And Finally

Man thanks to Andy T, of www.kool-ka.com, for providing me with most of the above pictures.  Quite simply, my Kamera Taking Skills were not evident, and most of Charlie’s pictures have me larking about.

So here’s Dervy’s Interpretation of how good the Ka Klub Stand was! /cough/

And I would put up what I thought of the judges when we didn’t win, because this is a family website!
