Bluewater January 2004

B

luewater is approximately 230 miles from York, each way, even allowing for DervNav.  The January 2004 Bluewater Meet was especially well attended with something like fifteen Kas attending.

Charlie and I drove down from York that morning, meeting our fellow Klubbers approximately seven minutes late (which probably wasn’t too bad considering we’d driven over two hundred miles to get there, but I was disappointed that we were late all the same).  After talking about engines, mods and suchlike, we ventured into the Bluewater shopping centre for something to eat at TGI Fridays.

After eating, the decision was then made that we should go shopping, so I guess that meeting up at a shopping centre was probably not a coincidence, after all.  I can skip over the shopping bit since it’s not especially interesting from a Ka-perspective, although I did spy some entertaining toy kiddies including a “back seat driver kit,” which has potential.  Oh and of course, the Orange shop.

Yes, some of you may consider that taking a picture of an Orange shop is rather sad, however it was exceptionally bright and has given me some more ideas involving my favourite colour and Kermit - but perhaps not quite like this one.

Following the shopping meet, and after disregarding the opportunities of watching a movie, the majority of people elected to go their own ways.  Charlie and I were very fortunate to be spending the night at a friends’ place in Maidstone, which gave us the opportunity to scare the chap we were following (thanks to Kermit having rather weak brakes).

And on the long drive back, Charlie and I were contemplating if driving a round trip of five hundred miles can be justified on Klub Business, the answer is a resounding, “yes.”  You cannot put a value to friendship!
