Alton Towers

Ka Style!

T

he Ka Klub did try to organise a trip to Alton Towers for the summer of 2002, but the World Cup Final (apparently, it’s a game which involves twenty two blokes kicking a pigs’ bladder about a field of grass, or something) and we ran out of weekends.  So we picked a date in May and Ka’d Alton Towers!

Alton Towers is approximately 110 miles from York, door-to-door of course, and almost all of it on either motorway or dual carriageway.  This suited us, because we were taking two non-Ka Klubbers along with us for the ride(s).  This meant that Kermit was four-up for over two hundred miles, the longest we’ve ever had the lad with so many bodies on board.

We arrived at Alton Towers just after nine o’clock, with the weather looking overcast and not looking especially favourable as far as the weather went.

As a nice, gentle introduction to the park, we took an easy one: the Swan Lake.  Of course, it started raining, but we could cope with that.

Unfortunately, owing to the very nature of Alton Towers, there are very photo opportunities, at least that is if you want to see rather more than just a blurred picture or a big splash of water.

So to this end, the few pictures I have are mainly of the Kas in the car park . . .

This shot shows most of us there trying to figure out the “Universal Ka Greeting” hand gesture.

And this shows us having got it sorted!
