BP Ultimate Diesel

It’s expensive, it doesn’t smell like diesel even if you accidentally
dip your fingers into it cough, it doesn’t soot and it dulls the diesel
clatter. So why exactly do I like BP
Ultimate Diesel? Have I been suckered by
the marketing?
Perhaps.
Except the TiD is smoother and quieter, certainly
compared with ASDA diesel. Early indications
are that the car is no more economical most of the time. I do have some longer run information that
points towards BP Ultimate Diesel achieving a higher miles per gallon figure,
but I can’t and won’t base this document on a couple of trip runs. The majority of my information, collated over
my regular commutes, shows statistically non-significant differences between BP
Ultimate Diesel and ASDA diesel.
Whatever BP Ultimate’s benefits, it’s expensive. With ASDA retailing at 93·9 pence per litre,
ordinary BP at 96·9 pence per litre and BP Ultimate is selling for 102·9 pence
per litre. I’m sure to do a comparison
with Shell’s new V-Power Diesel in due course.
